\"The Surrealist(초현실주의자들) contention is that the world would cease to be a conglomeration of unrelated fragments in which man feels himself to be alien and lost if the associative faculty of the mind could be restimulated and developed. This means regaining the use of powers we once possessed before they were emasculated by a materialistic civilization; powers which children, primitive peoples and the insane seem to be the last among us to retain. In place of, or at any rate supplementary to, logical analysis that has been proven inadequate, the Surrealists propose analogical thinking which can permit the reclassification of experience in an emotional and intuitive way. They claim that the poetic analogy has the power to reveal the principle of identity between the human mind and the exterior universe and hence to change man's idea of his place in the world. The poetic or plastic image, especially when it brings together a pair of elements which reason would regard as having nothing in common(...I think it seems to be \"metonymy\"...), often generates a mysterrious luminosity and appears to be inexplicably appropriate, even inevitable. As Andre Breton put it in 'Les Vases Communicants(Communicating Vessels) (1932):\" from \"Dada and Surrealism\" by Robert Short in 'Modernism 1890-1930' (1976 Penguin Books), Edited by Malcom Bradbury and James McFarlane 2021년 '가을'을 아름답고, 즐겁고, 행복하게 보내시기를 기도드립니다.

\"Despite the often shocking and anarchic appearance of their work, the Surrealists(초현실주의자들) are making a plea for greater control by man over his destiny and are searching behind the disorder of experience for a higher principle of order. They are not content merely to keep faith with chaos but expect a richer and more open rationalism to emerge from reason's confrontation with its opposite. They are not mystics or transcendentalists: they situate the absolute squarely in man himself and conceive of the Surreal(초현실) as a strictly 'immanent beyond'. They recognize that it is as urgent to remedy man's material as it is his spiritual deprivation. Their vision is not naively anthropomorphic; rather they look forward to a day when it will be possible, as Michel Beaujour has put it, for 'a humanized nature and a naturalized man to converse together free from hindrance in exalting'. Of course, theirs is a utopian doctrine. Of course, the victory of the Surreal is as distant as the kingdomof the saints. But the Surrealistic life remains as an example and the Surrealist works as witness to a stirring and, for all its affinities with past, an essentially modern aspiration. from \"Dada and Surrealism\" by Robert Short in 'Modernism, 1890-1930', Penguin books(1976)
